Camry Butler, LPC
About Camry
Camry Butler is a Licensed Professional Counselor at Dallas Therapy Associates who focuses on individual psychotherapy for adults. Camry earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas at Dallas. She went on to complete her training at a residential treatment facility working with both individuals and groups who were diagnosed with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders.
She takes special clinical interest in treating depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, self-sabotaging behaviors, complex/childhood trauma, intimacy, attachment, and relational challenges, religious trauma/confusion, and communication challenges. Furthermore, her life experiences as a minority allows her to understand the unique plight of black and brown women navigating corporate spaces and the world at large, cementing her desire to provide culturally competent and relevant therapy to provide BIPOC women with a safe space to been seen, valued, and process their unique challenges.
Camry understands that everyone she encounters has walked a unique journey and experienced various life events that have shaped the person they are today. This understanding has shaped her therapeutic approach in achieving optimal mental, emotional, and social wellbeing and treating mental health disorders. She values an eclectic approach but leans on Psychodynamic Therapy to form the foundation of her theoretical orientation and inform her conceptualization. Focusing on deep exploration and self-discovery, she values developing a trusting, collaborative relationship with clients to gain insight into past experiences and their unconscious thought patterns influence on their emotions, behaviors, and interpersonal relationships. She believes a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of healing and fosters this dynamic through offering a compassionate, non-judgmental, empathetic environment. She meets her clients where they are and develops individualized treatment plans by integrating various therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and Christian/faith-oriented therapy (upon request only).
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending live music events, especially neo-soul, trying new restaurants, Pilates, traveling throughout the Caribbean, and engaging in community service.
Camry is offering therapy both virtually and in-person at the Dallas DTA location. To schedule an appointment with Camry Butler, LPC, NCC, please email cbutler@dtacare.com.
