What it's like to sit with Dr. Philip

Dr. Philip believes meaningful change begins with a genuine therapeutic relationship built on trust, curiosity, and authenticity. He creates a relaxed, nonjudgmental environment where clients can openly explore their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences while gaining a deeper understanding of themselves.

His work is grounded in humanistic and existential thought, emphasizing personal meaning, emotional awareness, self-understanding, and the freedom to make intentional choices. Dr. Philip tailors therapy to each person's goals, strengths, and history. Depending on your needs, he may integrate existential-humanistic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, person-centered therapy, relational therapy, mindfulness, and psychodynamic perspectives.

Who he works best with: young adults navigating major life transitions; men seeking greater emotional awareness and healthier relationships; adolescents facing developmental or identity-related challenges; people experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or life stress; and clients from diverse backgrounds who want to know themselves better and create meaningful, lasting change.

Clients often describe therapy with Dr. Philip as feeling like an honest conversation in a calm, welcoming room. Together you'll explore thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationship patterns without judgment or pressure. He believes the therapeutic relationship itself is one of the most important parts of healing, and his goal is to help clients feel understood, appropriately challenged, and supported as they build insight and confidence to live in line with their values.

His style, in three words: 1. genuine — authenticity and openness, and a space where you don't have to pretend or have everything figured out; 2. collaborative — therapy is something you build together, guided by your experiences, goals, and values; and 3. insightful — helping you understand the patterns shaping your life so change can last.
