Dr. Hishida begins the therapeutic relationship with a thorough intake and a collaborative treatment planning session. From a strength-based lens, she supports clients explore thoughts, feelings, and process challenging life experiences. She can create activities to engage clients, offer perspective to help clients gain insight on self and behaviors, challenge clients when needed, and share skills to cope with difficult emotions and life stressors.

Dr. Juli Hishida is a registered yoga teacher, and enjoys learning and improving her craft, listening to comedy podcasts while in the kitchen, and continually being playful with friends and family. In tandem with her clinical work, she has a special interest in community health and has 10+ years of experience at the national level working with non-profit health centers.

Juli Hishida, PhD is a licensed psychologist offering psychological evaluations and therapy for children, teens, and adults, as well as consultation and supervision for clinicians.

Dr. Hishida received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Tennessee State University, and master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Play and Expressive Arts Therapy from Lipscomb University (CACREP-accredited). She completed her APA-accredited internship in Los Angeles at The Institute for Multicultural Counseling and Education Services and postdoctoral fellowship in private practice in Dallas.

Her clinical training is varied and eclectic and includes training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (used for interpersonal issues and emotion regulation), mindfulness meditation, and clinical hypnosis, and certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Seeking Safety (used for PTSD & substance use). To further guide her work, Dr. Hishida uses interest in positive psychology, skills in motivational interviewing, and research in playfulness.
