Mary Kate is a warm, down-to-earth therapist who believes good therapy can feel a lot like a really honest, productive conversation — one where you feel genuinely seen rather than analyzed. She has a relatable, real-world approach and isn’t afraid to bring humor or everyday metaphors into the room when it fits.
She provides therapy for individuals (ages 15+) and couples, with a focus on life transitions, dating and relationship issues, communication challenges, eating disorders, body image concerns, and faith-based counseling. She is especially passionate about working with couples in the pre-engagement, premarital, and newly married seasons — helping partners build clarity, communication, and a healthy, firm foundation before and early in marriage. As a certified PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator and registered Twogether in Texas provider, she offers structured, intentional premarital support for couples who want to go deeper before saying “I do.”
Her approach is person-centered, collaborative, and systemic — meaning she pays attention not just to what you’re experiencing, but to the patterns, relationships, and life experiences that have shaped it. A core part of her work involves perspective taking: helping clients step outside their own lens to better understand themselves, their relationships, and the dynamics at play. Sessions are conversational, grounded, and goal-oriented, blending warmth with practical, evidence-based tools that create space to process emotions while identifying clear next steps.
For clients who desire it, Mary Kate offers Christian counseling and thoughtfully integrates faith into the therapeutic process — always honoring each client’s individual beliefs and values. She is passionate about creating a space that feels safe, authentic, and growth-focused, where clients can explore big questions, navigate messy seasons, and move toward healthier relationships with themselves and others.
Mary Kate works best with individuals and couples who are in the middle of something — a transition, a hard season, or a relationship that feels stuck. She especially enjoys working with young adults navigating identity, dating, and figuring out who they are outside of their family of origin, as well as couples who want to build a strong foundation before or early in marriage. She also has a heart for clients working through body image and eating concerns, and those who want to bring their faith into the room.
In session, Mary Kate is warm but direct, and she’ll gently push back when she thinks it will help. She works hard to make therapy feel like a real conversation rather than something clinical or formal, and brings genuine curiosity into the room. Three words that describe her therapy style: authentic, relatable, direct.
Outside of the therapy room, MK enjoys Pilates, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and walking her dog, Piper.
Because Mary Kate practices under clinical supervision, sessions are billed under the Dallas Therapy Associates group insurance contract rather than Mary Kate's individual panel. Verify coverage with intake before your first appointment.
